30 thousand crore for the development of Rajasthan cities - Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu

Jaipur. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu has stressed upon the need to ensure effective implementation of Cable TV Act in order to restrict airing of objectionable content and unauthorized channels, especially in the border areas. He also asked the state government to ensure deployment of one dedicated officer in each district for this purpose. On this, Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje directed for the District Collectors for monitoring of cable TV content in co-ordination with the Department of Information and Public Relations.  Addressing a Review meeting of Information & Broadcasting Ministry’s Media Units in Jaipur on Tuesday, Shri Naidu advised the senior officials of the AIR and Doordarshan and other media units to work in close coordination with the State Government for highlighting the welfare schemes of the Centre and the State. The Minister emphasized on maintaining a better synergy between the media units of the Central Government, the Public Service Broadcasters and the State Government. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhra Raje said that the state government initiatives and developmental schemes should be highlighted through the Public Service Broadcaster. She said that the community radio played important role in creating awareness, sharing of information about development schemes and maintenance of peace and harmony in the society. Therefore, the number of community stations should be increased in the State.

The Union Minister Shri M Venkaiah Naidu said that Krishi Vigyan Kendras and DRDAs may be asked to set up their own Community Radio Stations. He said that the Central Government would give 75 percent subsidy for setting up a Community Radio Station. During the review meeting, Shri Naidu said that the State Government should optimally utilize the vast infrastructure of DD and AIR in the state to enhance its outreach.            The Minister for Urban Development Government of Rajasthan, Shri Shrichand Kriplani, Secretary Ministry of I & B Shri Ajay Mittal, Director General Doordarshan Smt. Supriya Sahu and Senior Officers from Doordarshan, AIR, PIB, DAVP, DFP and Song & Drama Division were present in the meeting.

In the beginning, M Venkaiah Naidu and Smt. Vasundhara Raje launched Marugandha, the monthly E-Publication of Press Information Bureau Jaipur. This publication has been brought out as in initiative towards the Digital India Campaign. This E-Publication aims at disseminating news items, features, initiatives and success stories to the small and medium newspapers in the state.
